The purpose of this club is to encourage students with artistic talent,
and promote service to the school through a variety of artistic endeavors.
Membership by invitation only.
These clubs encourage school and class spirit through a variety of school activities.
Students help class officers plan dances, proms, and fund raising activities.
These students cheer at all football and basketball games. They organize the Pep Dance in September and decorate the fence with posters before each home football game.
The cheerleaders practice for, and participate in, cheering tournaments during the winter season.
The color guard presents the school colors and performs a routine with flags at all football games. They also perform at the Band Festival in October.
The purpose of this club is to develop debating and public speaking skills. Members must be
willing to do research about the national topic up for debate during the current year.
The purpose of this club is to actively involve students in the concept of “Thinking Globally Act Locally”. The club has instituted recycling programs, plans educational promotions and takes field trips of ecological interest.
The purpose of this organization is to help improve public communication skills through competition. The club fields a team of students to take part in Forensics Tournaments. The Public Speaking events include: Extemporaneous Speaking, Impromptu Speaking and Persuasive Speaking. Oral Interpretation Events include Poetry Interpretation, Prose Interpretation and Storytelling. Dramatic Speaking includes Dramatic Monologue, Comedic Monologue, Improvisational Acting Pairs, Dramatic Pairs and Scene Competition.
ITALIAN HONOR SOCIETY
The purpose of this club is to encourage scholarship, leadership, service and good character in the area of Italian. Membership is by invitation only.
This group of students is active in providing stage and lighting for both assemblies and all school productions. Through extensive training, the lighting crew has become very professional.
This group of musicians meets on the marching band field for practice. They give numerous performances and participate in pep rallies and assemblies. Every week they play the Star Spangled Banner and perform a half-time show at the football game.
This team attends meets at various schools. At each meet, questions are distributed and a time limit is set for each question. At the conclusion of the year awards are given to the top scorer from each school.
This club photographs and videotapes all school productions and sporting activities.
In addition, it produces promotional videos for school programs. Students take field trips to
production facilities and studio set-ups throughout the metropolitan area.
MU ALPHA THETA
This is a National Honor Society for outstanding math students in high school and junior
The group participates in math-related projects. Membership is by invitation only.
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
The purpose of this membership by invitation only club is to encourage scholarship,
leadership, service and good character.
(PALS) PEERS AS LEADERS
The purpose of this club is to promote a positive culture at DHS. PALS is a club at DHS comprised of sophomores, juniors and seniors who are leaders inside and outside of school. PALS are often called upon to help at DHS night events, welcome new students and volunteer in the school and throughout the local community. This club is open to sophomores and juniors in good academic standing.
The purpose of this club is to train students to act as peer mediators to settle disagreements between students.
The school newspaper is designed to keep faculty and students informed as to what is going on in the school community. The Periscope has won many awards, which reflects the hard work of the staff and its advisor.
It is the responsibility of the Reveries staff to prepare, sell and publish the
high school yearbook, covering the events for the entire year.
This group participates in school productions. Students audition for play parts and are
awarded the part that they act out the best. Auditions are open to students in all four grade levels.
This major school production allows students from all grade levels to audition and
in a variety show. The show is performed on three consecutive evenings during the school year.
The members of this club study Spanish culture and participate in cultural events throughout the school year.
SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY
The purpose of this club is to encourage scholarship, leadership, service and good
character in the area of Spanish. Membership in this club is by invitation only.
This club is active in all school productions by providing the behind the scenes support for all school plays.
The council acts as the governing body for the entire student population. Representatives from each homeroom, club and class are invited to discuss student-generated projects and problems.
TEEN FREEDOM CORPS (TFC)
TFC is a group that is committed to encouraging, coordinating, and recognizing high school students as civic and community service participants. The general mission of the group is for students to care, commit, and connect with their community, state, and nation. Specifically, the group is responsible for organizing such activities as: registering voters in the school and community, hosting a community service/volunteer fair, and engaging in various community service activities.
UNITY/YOUTH COUNCIL…DHS CHAPTER
The goal of the Unity Club is to provide an understanding of the common bond shared by all of the cultures of the world.Youth Council is a group of students from various high schools throughout Bergen County who try to raise the quality of life for the homeless by volunteering services to non-profit organizations such as the Center for Food Action, The Holly Center, a shelter for children in Hackensack and other emergency shelters.
This club is open to all students interested in all aspects of theater
from acting and directing to play-writing and scene design.
