Principal's Message

I am very excited to be starting the 2022-23 school year, and my twenty fifth year in the district. It is hard to believe how fast the time has gone. As I look back over the course of my time as Principal, I am extremely proud of how much Dumont High School has grown in a very short time.

During the course of this past summer, the High School has had significant building upgrades including the painting of the Quirk Gymnasium and the construction of a new sound and lighting booth in the Auditorium

Dumont High School continues to improve the curriculum by continually offering new programs such as Entrepreneurship and AP Studio Art. The students have consistently excelled in all of the new programs, along with classes that have been well established, as evident by test scores. For example, Dumont High School has once again been placed on the AP Honor Roll for the second time. In addition, DHS has partnered with a company entitled Tutor Me. This partnership will provide our students with access to online tutoring services after school hours, which hopefully will greatly assist our students with their academic success.

I am very proud of the way in which our school community continued to grow during the course of the pandemic as well. During those difficult times DHS found new ways to keep our community connected as evident by our outdoor play performances and athletic contests. Dumont High School has continued to implement our very popular Student of the Month program, where we highlight a student who has been an upstander in the school.

As you can see, I am very proud of all of the accomplishments of the students and the school community. I look forward to continuing to work with parents, teachers, and students on exploring ways in which Dumont High School can improve its programs and culture.

Please make sure to take some time and review our website to keep you up to date with the latest activities at the High School.

Thank you.
Jim Wichmann, Principal
